Maharashtra Launches India’s First Integrated Cyber Command and Control Center

In a significant stride towards enhancing cybersecurity in India, L&T Technology Services Limited, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Cyber Department, has inaugurated the country’s first integrated state-level Cyber Command and Control Center. This pioneering initiative aims to create a safe and resilient digital environment, empowering citizens, businesses, and critical infrastructure with world-class technology and expertise to combat cyber crimes effectively.

The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, at Mahape. This landmark project positions Maharashtra at the forefront of cybersecurity, facilitating and expediting cyber crime investigations, improving conviction rates, and building capacity within the police force. Furthermore, it aims to raise awareness among citizens regarding the threats posed by cyber crimes.

Strategic Collaboration

L&T Technology Services, in consortium with KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services LLP, has executed this strategic project for the Maharashtra Cyber Department. This collaboration brings together extensive expertise in technology and forensic investigation, ensuring that the Cyber Command and Control Center is equipped with cutting-edge tools and methodologies to tackle cyber threats effectively.

Comprehensive Infrastructure

The project encompasses the establishment of several key components designed to enhance the state’s cybersecurity framework. These include:

  • Cyber Crime Command & Control Center: A centralized hub for managing cyber crime incidents and investigations.
  • Technology Assisted Investigation Center: Equipped with advanced digital forensic tools to aid in the investigation of cyber crimes.
  • CERT – Maharashtra: A dedicated team utilizing AI-based threat intelligence tools to monitor and respond to cyber incidents.
  • Security Operations Center: A state-of-the-art facility focused on real-time monitoring and response to cyber threats.
  • Cyber Center of Excellence: A resource for capacity building and raising public awareness about cyber crimes.

A One-Stop Solution for Cyber Grievances

The Command and Control Center will serve as a one-stop solution for all grievance management related to cyber crimes. Citizens can report issues through multiple channels, including a dedicated helpline (14407), a web portal, and a mobile app, which will be operational from October 15th. The Nodal Cyber Police Station, along with 50 district cyber police stations, will investigate cases with the assistance of Technology Assisted Investigations (TAI) for both citizen and enterprise complaints.

Moreover, CERT-MH will address cyber incidents related to critical infrastructure and national security in coordination with other agencies. The center will also provide proactive threat intelligence to industries, leveraging AI technologies to stay ahead of potential threats.

Unique Features of the Cyber Command Center

The Cyber Command and Control Center boasts several unique features that set it apart as a pioneering initiative in India:

  • Dedicated Infrastructure: A specialized Command & Control Center located in Mahape.
  • Integrated Technology Platform: The center is integrated with over 50 global forensic technologies, 17 threat intelligence tools, and 13 cybersecurity tools, all leveraging AI and blockchain technologies.
  • Expertise: A team of over 150 cyber crime forensics, investigation, and technology experts will be available to address various cyber threats.
  • Geographical Reach: The center enables the operation of 50 geographically distributed District Cyber Police Stations across the state, ensuring comprehensive coverage and response capabilities.

A Benchmark for Cybersecurity

“Maharashtra has set a benchmark to provide a world-class platform to tackle cyber crimes with global cutting-edge technologies and highly skilled cyber experts. This ensures the timely resolution of cyber crimes and assures digital safety for citizens, enterprises, and critical infrastructure,” stated Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
