AI for Citizen Safety: Join the IndiaAI CyberGuard AI Hackathon!
In an era where technology is rapidly evolving, the importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated. With the rise in cybercrime, it is imperative to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to safeguard citizens and enhance their safety. In this spirit, IndiaAI is excited to announce the CyberGuard AI Hackathon, a unique opportunity for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to contribute to the fight against cybercrime.
About the IndiaAI CyberGuard AI Hackathon
IndiaAI, an Independent Business Division (IBD) under the Digital India Corporation (DIC) of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), is at the forefront of promoting the responsible and ethical use of AI across India. The IndiaAI Mission aims to democratize AI benefits, bolster India’s global leadership in this field, and foster technological self-reliance. As part of this mission, the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative (IADI) focuses on developing AI applications that can drive socio-economic transformation in critical sectors.
In alignment with these objectives, IndiaAI is partnering with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), established by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This collaboration aims to leverage AI to enhance the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrime, ultimately improving citizen welfare. The I4C manages the National Cybercrime Report Portal (NCRP), which serves as a comprehensive framework for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to effectively tackle cybercrime.
CyberGuard AI Hackathon 2024
The CyberGuard AI Hackathon is a strategic initiative designed to utilize advanced technologies, particularly AI, to bolster cybersecurity and address the growing threat of cyber fraud and crimes. With approximately 6,000 cases reported daily through the NCRP, this hackathon seeks to develop robust AI-driven solutions capable of managing and mitigating these threats.
Participants will have the opportunity to design and implement sophisticated AI models that can significantly enhance the effectiveness of cybersecurity measures. This hackathon is not merely a competition; it is a platform for collaboration, learning, and innovation in one of the most critical areas of technology today.
Theme
The primary theme of the hackathon revolves around the development of a Natural Language Processing (NLP) model. This model aims to guide citizens in filing cybercrime reports accurately on the NCRP through real-time analysis of the description and incident-supporting media files uploaded by the citizen. By simplifying the reporting process, the initiative seeks to empower citizens and ensure that their grievances are addressed promptly and effectively.
Major Milestones
The hackathon will unfold in three major stages:
- Stage 1: A virtual hackathon where participants can collaborate and innovate from anywhere.
- Stage 2: An in-person, three-day hackathon for the top 20 teams, with travel and logistics provided.
- Stage 3: A pilot program for the top three teams to test and refine their solutions in real-world scenarios.
Prizes and Incentives
The CyberGuard AI Hackathon offers exciting prizes for the top teams, including:
- First Prize: Up to INR 25 Lakhs and the opportunity to develop a solution for national rollout.
- Second Prize: Up to INR 7 Lakhs.
- Third Prize: Up to INR 3 Lakhs.
- Special Prize: An additional INR 5 Lakhs for all-women teams, in addition to the top three prizes.
These incentives not only recognize the hard work of participants but also encourage diverse participation in the hackathon.
