New Delhi, October 23 – In an era where digital threats loom larger than ever, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken a proactive step by issuing an advisory to all states regarding the establishment of a Special Wing of Cyber Commandos. This initiative comes in the wake of a troubling surge in cyber threats, particularly hoax bomb threats targeting Indian airlines, which have disrupted operations and caused significant financial losses.
The Context of Growing Cyber Threats
In recent weeks, Indian airlines have been inundated with over 100 hoax bomb threats, primarily communicated through social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). These threats have been traced back to accounts created using virtual private networks (VPNs) or dark web browsers, making them difficult for investigative agencies to track.
